Getting Started with CIR+

God is so good, and alcohol and opiates is a very applicable, life-changing byproduct of that goodness. The visible reality we see in the Sacraments is their outward expression, the form they take, and the way in which they are administered and received. The invisible reality we cannot “see” is God’s grace, his gracious initiative in redeeming us through the death and Resurrection of his Son. His initiative is called grace because it is the free and loving gift by which he offers people a share in his life, and shows us his favor and will for our salvation. Our response to the grace of God’s initiative is itself a grace or gift from God by which we can imitate Christ in our daily lives. Grow closer to Christ on your recovery and spiritual journey by reflecting on the daily Mass readings through a Catholic and recovery perspective.

Meetings & Retreats

First starting in January of 2017 in San Diego, these meetings now span 25 states and several countries. It would then be followed by a binge watching of what God and I might have accomplished together. A life where I hadn’t been so proud, so secretive, so determined to fix everything myself. I would watch episode after episode of a life where I stopped blaming the people in my past or present and intentionally walked with God to become all I was created to be. Today’s Catholic offers advertising opportunities both online and in print.

  1. Addiction cuts across all demographics, and even a life dedicated to serving the Church does not make one immune to the effects of alcoholism and addiction.
  2. After several years in sobriety, Weeman felt a call to establish a ministry that serves Catholics seeking healing recovery from all offenses against temperance.
  3. He calls on Catholics to help those affected by injustice instead of blaming them or treating them as a nuisance we wish would just go away.
  4. Catholic In Recovery meetings offer an environment for people to talk about their challenges while tying in the solutions offered by God’s love, the sacraments, and our Catholic faith.

Awe and Meaning-Making

Most people who get to experience sobriety from their addiction find themselves interested in the surprising nature of events that take place when they are present for their own lives and the people around them.

I might envision it as a period where time stands still and God asks me to look at what could have been. The process of cleansing and purifying my soul could begin with a movie reel featuring my unhealthy, free-will choices and the effect they have had on my life and others. This story has been corrected to state that the birds were moved, not sold, to a nonprofit in Germany, and language was changed to indicate the first release into the wild was in 2022, not 2021. On May 15, the federal government informed the nonprofit that it would terminate the agreement, which expires on June 5. In a statement to the AP, Brazil’s federal environmental agency said it discovered that, in 2023, the nonprofit transferred Spix’s macaws from its center in Germany to other countries without its consent.
